Jonathan,

I agree with most of your arguments. But the very broad support
Clinton got world-wide last tuesday has absolutely to do with
the fact that there are very few outside the USA that support
the creepy way Starr & the Republicans try to kill Clinton.

I already phrased Kohl (zum kotschen) and I think this quote
represents the opinion of the majority of the people outside
the USA. Both the man in the street and their leaders.

In the USA Clinton got support from Gore and others after he
made his apologize and admitted that "he had sinned". In Europe
we have a different culture (many actually). Nobody changed his
mind after Clinton's apoligizes.

The events that triggered a broad-based support for Clinton
outside the USA were the disgusting and below every level
decisions to put the Starr-report on the Internet and give
the videos to the press.

Nevertheless I agree with you that the USA and especially the
President plays a key-role in solving the economic troubles
worldwide.
