Lewis,
M is the Roman numeral for 1000. There's just no dragging those accountant types into real world :-) Thank heavens they only use Roman numerals for zeros (sometimes you'll see a C for 100) or we could be looking at an INPR closing price of something like CLXXXIX/XXXII (or would that be CXIC/XXXII?).

Edit-Don't worry that MM is Roman for 2000. Accountants use M's as multipliers so MM = M*M = 1,000,000 = M <G> You see, computers can't useually display the Roman numeral for 1,000,000; it's an M with a bar over it.
