No, because St Louis will also have played 163 games. There was a tie with Pittsburgh earlier and the game was made up. McGwire BTW sat out that game. Maris had 163 games as well.

Moreover, Ruth's record for 154 games was bested by both Mac and Sammy.

With Ford Frick dead, no asterisk. Playoff game is part of the regular season.

Hoping for the tie...McGwire will get the edge in history because of his awesome HR/AB percentage.
