ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland, Sept. 23 /CNW/ - JetForm(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: FORMF, Toronto: JFM), the global leader in enterprise workflow and electronic forms solutions, won the first-ever 'Company of the Year' award at The Branham/Canaccord SoftWorld'98 Awards last night. The new award recognizes the leading company in the Canadian software and IT services industry.
The award was presented at a SoftWorld'98 Gala last night where Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien was the keynote speaker. This public recognition for achievement is the latest milestone in a growing stream of successes for the Ottawa-based software company, which saw annual sales grow 45 percent to $111.2 million in its most recent fiscal year.
''It is a genuine privilege to receive this award because it comes from our peers and colleagues in the Canadian software industry,'' said John B. Kelly, president and chief executive officer for JetForm. ''We accept this honor not only on behalf of the hundreds of JetForm employees whose indispensable contributions made this possible, but also on behalf of JetForm customers, who are the real secret to our success. We also must acknowledge our Canadian colleagues -- particularly in our Ottawa region. By challenging one another to be the very best, we all improve and ultimately, all of our customers become winners as well.''
'A Canadian Software Success Story'
According to Chris Henley, senior vice president and director, Canaccord Capital Corporation and a member of the judging panel, JetForm was an ideal selection for the inaugural award. ''While it's never easy to single out a winner from all the very worthy candidates -- including our other two finalists, Merak Projects Ltd. and Platform Computing Corporation -- JetForm clearly deserves this award. Their rapid growth, dominance in electronic forms, and continued momentum in workflow has become a true Canadian software success story.''
The other four judges for the awards were: -- Donald Woodley, president and CEO of Oracle Corp. Canada -- David Thomas, founder and CEO of Object Technology (an IBM Company) -- Pierre Laferriere, special advisor to the chairman of the board, Information Technologies, Telesystem Ltd. -- Wayne Gudbranson, president and CEO of the Branham Group.
