I believe in the last Asyst Automation annual report, it was indicated that, in the past, fabs could be upgraded in terms of environmentals, equipment, etc such that their useful life could be extended to about 9 years. By "SMIF"ing a fab not using SMIF, an additional 6 years could be added to the fab's lifetime.

Obviously, this is the claim by the leading seller of MiniEnvironment technology. I didn't see a table showing precisely which fabs had their useful lifetimes extended or by how much.
