Thanks Claude (BTW - Im Canadian - I knew how to pronounce your name -LOL),

I thought I was preaching in the middle of a desert. I frequently am traveling to the US on Business (in fact Im going to Raleigh in 4 days) and have had several very intelligent conversations with Americans regarding the differences in our healthcare systems. Most Americans envy our system once they hear the truth and not the Bullshit that their Republican politician have broadcast on their media.

I agree 100% with you, the only true entity that can manage a national healthcare system is a Government - and for exactly the reasons you mentioned - they do not have the all mighty dollar as their 1st criteria. The reason Canadians live longer is because our healthcare system promotes Proactive / Preventative practices. We are not afraid to go to the doctor when we think something is wrong for fear of being billed - we just go!

Americans unfortunately will NEVER have a system such as ours and I do feel bad for them. There is so much human suffering they could eliminate and money they could save (both personally and as a nation) if they would only break through these mental barriers that Government run systems are always bad.

As I said before, PMS Witch is a complainer who thinks the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Although our system is far from perfect either - its a far cry better than the American alternative. You cannot compare our system to an HMO - there is no comparison.

(OK - I will again get of my soapbox regarding this issue)

As for our disagreement on MSFT, there is no harm in that. If all of us on this board agreed with each other then there wouldnt be much to discuss.

PS - I too find Dan's posting very enjoyable to read! Keep it up Dan.

Cheers fellow displaced Canuck!
