Daniel; RE:" ex-dividend 25-SEP, 7.9% APR, QTR payout 30-SEP "

...these are interesting, high-yield instruments Daniel.

Another interesting instrument appears to be UND - Unum Corp, ex-dividend 25-SEP, payout 30-SEP @ 8.42% APR. Unlike the above, "ersatz bonds" issued by utilities, this one is trading in a +/- 0.125 range; ie., it does not "drop" much after ex-dividend.

I came across them a few days ago whilst doing research on a trade in BT - Bankers Trust. The idea was to buy 1000s BT at 60~61 on Monday; hold this position past the ex-dividend date on 23-SEP; realize the $1.00/sh quarterly dividend; and leg into selling 9 Oct 70 CALLs to exit - leaving the 10% kapital gain as 100s in a tax-free IRA yielding 6.6% APR.

I wonder if you could confirm something for us, Daniel. The "ex-dividend" date of 25-SEP means that the last day to buy the underlying would be (today) 24-SEP, n'est-ce pas ? Buying on the ex-dividend date is one day too late... is that correct ? merci

-Steve
