Pete Wilson, a Republican Governor is pro-choice. So are many other elected Republicans. Some publicly support gay rights, and many elected Republicans are working women. I don't agree with your basic assumption here. Yes the national leadership is primarily woman-hating, 900-year-old neo-neanderthal knuckle-draggers, but the fights over these issues have been so public and so definitely NOT one-sided, that I don't believe these positions represent most Republicans, only the loud well-financed ones.

Actually, yes. First off, the teachers union is fighting hard against home schooling. Second, there actually have been bills proposed (not passed) that would ban home schooling or require that anyone teaching in such an environment be an accredited teacher. Such a requirement would effectively ban home schooling. |
