<<you obviously have a lay level on knowledge on this. I have a friend that is an HR professional>>

Actually, among other things, I'm an HR manager. We brought in a professional law firm specializing in harassment cases to help us develop our internal policies, and their position on the issue was the one I was referring to.

<<That is not the standard or you really would have a flood of cases in this area.>>

There have been - that's why you see so many complaints and so much fear.

<<I was against Thomas from the start for one reason and one reason alone; I didn't think he was qualified and even close to being in the top tier of choices. I actually supported Robert Bork even though he is so partisan now I can't believe I had>>

Fair statement on your feelings about Thomas/ nomination, but I'd still like to know if you thought the harassment charges should have been attacked as unfair, or if the tactic was acceptable. I still can't make up my mind about Bork - I like using the strict Constitutional interpretations and founders' intent, but Bork still scares me - he is too extreme. I don't think he and I would interpret things the same way.
