Others would know more than myself, but I'm pretty sure Ampex has some expertise in video compression technology. Perhaps this could be applied in real-time applications. I guess I was trying to suggest what you stated: "the storage and on-demand playback of these events will benefit Ampex the most." Think of the amount of digital storage required for on-demand playback of sport games, concerts, news footage, movies, etc. How about taping a digital home video, uploading it to a "rented" space on an Ampex DST provided by a web host company, allowing it's retrieval at a later time by relatives across the country who couldn't be there?
