I received this e-mail this morning from Datek. They are forcing me to cover ALTIF. This is not a margin call, I have plenty of $ in my account and am in the green with ALTIF. Can anyone explain why they can force me to cover? The shares were available to borrow when I shorted them! I am concerned that they could do this to me on other short positions at inopportune times! I have called them, but they only say that another broker needs the shares back. My tough luck. Dear Mr. Hibbs: We are sending you this e-mail in regards to your short position of ALTIF. This security is not available to be borrowed and therefore must be covered by Friday, Sept. 25th at 12:00 noon EST.
