Ann I hope you realize I'm not in favor of hard core pornography (which seems to me horribly tedious, as well as distasteful). I'm just opposed to censorship, except in the most extreme cases.

It seems to me that hard core pornography has receded a bit in this country. Haven't the sales of the girly magazines and the like gone down from peaks in the 70's? It's my impression, though I can't say I've paid much attention. It's my impression that the interest in all that receded after the shock of its previously quickly increasing explicitness and availability, dissipated. Maybe that's just wishful thinking. <g>

What has increased, though, is the amount of teasing sorts of sex on TV. That doesn't bother me much (though I don't watch that sort of thing much). The increase in violence on TV, and especially violence without consequences, does. (Though I don't watch that sort of thing at all -- because it bores me).

Isn't the current decrease in teenage pregnancy encouraging? That seems to me to be the important thing. Together with pushing down rape and other abuse.
