From Briefing.com: AMPEX CORP. (AXC) 10 3/4 +1 1/16. Developer of magnetic recording, digital-imaging processing and high performance digital storage products has agreed to make disk-drive products for Maxtor Corp., a subsidiary of Hyundai Electronics America, incorporating AXC's keepered media technology in disk drive programs during 1997. According to agreement, Maxtor is not obligated to complete any disk-drive program or to purchase any minimum quantity of keepered media disk platters. The new disk-drive program would use keepered media to achieve leading-edge capacity at lower cost than alternative technologies. The keepered media technology enhances the storage capabilities of a computer hard drive.
