PS Roy: any verifable (new) info on MSFT's 8/97 settlement with AAPL ? Actually, nothing I've ever read about the "secret" payment has been verifiable or reported by reputable sources (a major news agency, publication, or by Apple itself). It's all rumor, and Fred Anderson, Apple's CFO, has refused repeatedly to reveal the actual amount. The figures I've seen bandied about the most are in the neighborhood of $350 million, paid in installments over 2-3 years. If that's true, Microsoft got a great deal. :)
