If earnings were the major criteria then picking stocks would be a simple matter.
On this we will disagree. While not the only criteria, earnings or earnings potential are very high on my list when considering to buy, sell, or hold an equity. If earnings are not a major factor why is there so much attention given to earnings every quarter. While there are exceptions, when a company reports earnings the stock performs in correlation to street estimates and actual results.
And it would be a simple matter to pick stocks based on earnings if we could only be more astute in our ability to forecast. I have always considered it an unfair disadvantage to the small investor to not have an ability to get an insight into a company's performance until it is announced, at which time it is too late to react.
Perhaps we can agree that there are many tools we can use in our analysis of markets, and companies, and we each emphasize what we feel comfortable with, or has worked for us. If we remain open minded, over time our techniques change and we hope to improve personal performance. Let's face it, we're making educated guesses regardless of our methodology.
A close above 24 5/8 was my calculation of resistance on SEG. With price movement of the past few days it probably has changed fractionally, but I have not recalculated.
