Gene, Re: "Here's a typo: He reiterated Intel's statement two weeks earlier that third quarter earnings would rise eight to 10 percent..."
Freudian slip? I caught one of those listening to Intel's conference call after the second quarter. Tom Kurlak, yes, himself, asked a question of Intel's Andy Bryant, Corporate VP and CFO about units to be shipped in the upcoming, third quarter. I pasted the interchange from my post back on July 15th: -snip- 1. In his question, Kurlak made a comment that 2Q was down for units shipped and asked what unit growth for 3Q looked like. Bryant answered that he couldn't answer that directly, but could say confidently that revenues would be up, er, ah, I mean flat to slightly up in 3Q. Freudian slip? -snip-
COULD IT HAVE HAPPENED AGAIN? Whatever, I don't think there is any way a company would interrupt the business world to make a statement about significantly higher revenues if there were bad news WRT earnings lurking in the bushes. Still, you're rather cocksure, Gene. If I were a betting man...
