Impressions of PLANET? Check Yahoo Board...

I've posted about three posts about PLANET over there.
Short and sweet of it all: terrific conference, deals being closed
or furthered right in front of me, nifty new products, and bold
e-BPO initiative which builds upon i2's established core strengths,
i.e., multi-enterprise collaboration, planning, optimization, and
decision support. They're in the process of changing the playing
field while at the same time solidifying their base, e.g, check out
the EXE announcement today.

e-BPO is NOT a direct head-on assault at SAP or, more generally, ERP... IMHO. SAP is not strong where ITWO is headed with this initiative. SAP heretofore hasn't been big in the planning space. Actually, they've almost been non-existent.

This initiative will take some time to be digested by analysts
and reporters. Once you a see a demo of it in action--as I did
at the PLANET Real-Time Theatre---and know that the products
are AVAILABLE TODAY... you'll understand why I and others
are in ITWO for the long haul.

However, this does not make ITWO invulnerable to Y2K resource diversion, SAP's being downgraded (as I have heard it MAY have been today), MANU's self-destruction or restructuring, and a market that seems rudderless at present.

Best Regards,

c m
