100 Ground stations X $4m = $400m so that is a bit extra.
[I think those figures are about right - I should check] They don't actually need that many ground stations but for countries to tax their people, they need a ground station in each country that wants to do that!

I think there is slightly higher delay in Iridium but only some milliseconds, so irrelevant to hearing voices. Not the delay you get with geostationary satellites which is a real nuisance.

Globalstar will have a pretty good marketing system as well as good technology. Airtouch is a pretty substantial marketer for example, Vodafone and others. So I don't think delivering the service to customers is going to be a problem for Globalstar.

My concern is just how well the thing works. At the moment, from what I read, it seems to be going very well. So I'll stick with all my bets on Globalstar and decline Iridium if they have an IPO.
