Given the neagtive earning outlook for Ciena, no one wants to engage in a merger/acquisition that will be dilutive. Shareholders will never approve such a move. That's when acquiring the technology is not a strong enough motive. Besides, why can't LU and the others create this execllent technology in house. Just my thoughts
