Dear Marty, what's not clear to me is why you think we're on opposite sides of the fence. Have not read this particular article, just many like it. It doesn't matter sometimes that the company is great -- see CHKPF -- short-term there can be extreme volatility in these issues and that's what I'm talking about.

Middle East politics can occasionally play a role in these stocks -- if Iran looks like it is going to begin an "action," you're better off not owning many Israeli stocks. Israeli companies as a group also sell for smaller P/Es than similar companies in the US. They also typically have a harder row to hoe in terms of marketing versus the typical US company, a cultural difference.

Also, read a lot of SI threads and you'll see lots of Americans puzzled why the stocks go down on great news. The answer is simple -- because the trading volume is often thin, you sometimes have to sell the day great eps are released (or the day before) since it happens often that the stocks collapse those days because institutions take advantage of the uptick in trading volume to switch positions. This is something a person wouldn't learn from Bloomberg.

I nevertheless have great respect for the technologies behind the companies and am sure defense-related knowledge is a strategic strength.

So, glad you liked the article. Good luck. I'm long too. Hope we both win. Also just bought TCNOF.

P.S. If you want to follow an Israeli company it's good to regularly read GLOBES, the Jerusalem Post and Ha'Aretz, all available in English on the web.
