Mr. K -
My experience with Win98 has not been too positive. Some stuff works better but some stuff seems to be a lot worse. The OS is much more stable, and applications seem to be better-behaved (that's good). I have had almost no crashes on programs that used to crap out regularly.

But there are occasional slowdowns on everything from screen updates to program loading. The performance is very quirky - I'm talking about things like closing a window taking 5 seconds, when it was instant on Win95. Sometimes loading files will take 10 times normal. And there is a lot of new startup crap which seems to always do something funny.

I was on the beta for Win98 and liked it in development (for the stability reasons). I assumed the quirky performance things were driver issues that would get worked out in the final version. I have been disappointed in that expectation.
