However, when??? I just don't see people moving to this paradigm anytime soon.
You dont see it? Open your eyes. name a new company that is not making the Internet a major part of its sales strategy. Name an old one that is not moving to the web.
1. It is still way too difficult to implement Its easier to implement than client-server
2. You must know this, people are still only just making client-server work. Precisely, but they arent going to wait until CS is working before they do Internet computing. Its not a case of having to do things in a particular order, and before you do Internet you do CS! Companies are giving up on CS and implementing Internet Computing everyday. I see the bandwagon moving. I see huge numbers of companies starting to move their stuff, internal and external, onto Internet Computing.
3. Too many vested interests in NOT making this work.
But even more vested interests in making it work. Its happening right now. One example, in the UK, free Internet access. ANother example, a major UK investment house has gone direct to the public, cutting out the middle man, and going heavily for selling its products over the net. No one can stop it, so its a question of surfing the leading edge of this, or drowning. (To make a bad metaphor possibly!)
