As of 15 Sep. short interest rose a significant 44% to 1,870296 shares from the Aug. 14 level of 1,297,438.

While I do not know, I suspect that the holders of the c.v.p. accounted for part of the rise. They cover thru conversion at a later date which IMO would be soon after the short sale.

I wish I could believe it was others going short since IMO that would be bullish, since they would have to cover by purchases in the open market. But I don't think it is so I regard the short balance as neutral. The "damage" is done when the short sale is executed and not when conversion to cover occurs.
