<<You are assuming that everybody belongs to either Democratic or Republican parties, with half the population on either side. Those are huge assumptions and have little basis in reality.>>

You're kidding, right? Granted, there is some small percentage of people (maybe 10%?) that don't identify themselves as either R or D, but if you include those adjustments in the calculation, it skews the numbers even more as regards the number of D's toeing the party line.

As to the 50/50 split, feel free to correct my numbers, and include your sources. I am more than willing to adjust my calculations to reflect the reality. Of course, I doubt it would change the overall point I was making. Democrats are showing themselves to be extremely partisan.

Comments by various leaders of the women's movement point out the reality. They will support Clinton because they are afraid of what the extreme right-wing factions of the Republican Party would do if they obtain any advantage or momentum. They are afraid that any gains they have made over the last x years would be seriously compromised if Clinton left office. In other words, they may hate Clinton (or not), but they have to support him because he supports their policies. They are not ruled by principles, by by positions. They will support whoever supports them, regardless of what type of person that is.
