This is actually shaping up pretty nicely.

Republicans have painted themselves into an enormous box. At least in the House they virtually have no choice by to vote most of Starr's charges into Articles of Impeachment.

For most of them to back down now given their many hard line statements will seem extremely unprincipled, and very much hurt them with their base.

At the same time, very few Demos have painted themselves into any corner. They have left themselves plenty of room to say it was bad, but not impeachable. On any and all of it.

Meanwhile the public is getting really sick of this fast. The public is finished with this. They've made their decision, and it is only the Republican base that is demanding impeachment. The media still needs feeding. The bad news for the Pres. is all out. It's some good news and contradictions to charges that have yet to be uncovered and which can still feed the media. As well as the story about what are you House Judiciary Committee doing to advance the ball. Dragging on. Why aren't you voting? Why haven't you debated and determined standards? Etc., etc.

And the House Judiciary Repubs. are nowhere near to being able to end it, given the box they've painted themselves into.

Big trouble for Repubs. Big.

I can smell it and feel it welling up.

Can't you?
