Who needs a smart card with finger print id?

I've wondered about the atm and other devices and how they could get away from the pin, (which seems to work fine and probably needs no improvement).

I thought about finger print readers and vandalism and figured it would be pretty hard to make them work if someone scratched, painted or cracked the scanning surface. Now, if you could carry the scanner it wouldn't be a problem.

It would be like a key that would fit in any lock, or dispense any service and if you lost it no one could use it. Probably useless speculation.

Regards,

Mark
