Hi, Sam. The Macintosh has always had the ability to resize windows. You grab at the lower corner and stretch or shrink the window. You could also always move the window through pulling on the title bar of the window.

A new feature with System 8 added the ability to disappear the window, displaying only the title bar of the window. To do this, you double click on the title bar. To make the window reappear, double click on that title bar of the window again.
