David, You are right , that particular individuals post read heavily bias. I can only assume that he is short the stock and that would make this news a big disappointment. AAPL by making this move is a long way from "doomday", IMO. I just read the last 3 days of posts covering the NEXT deal and I will say there exist here alot more really good information, insites and opinions then one will ever find in the "media". The content of the "media" concentrates on the only thing that they apparently feel qualified to write about; Steve Jobs, am I am not sure they read him right either. I am of the opinion that the real story, why did Apple go with this decision? goes alot deeper than that. I personally was disappointed when I first heard that Apple had made this decision and not gone with BE Systems. I just assumed that Be offered the lastest and greatest but I didn't think at the time of the problems of going with the lastest nor did I think of Apples mission as I do now. I looked on NEXT as a business failure which it was apparently but I didn't look under the cover at their real strength, such as advanced and proven tecnology, multi platform, mulitiprocessor, etc. and more. I do indeed think that alot more is going to come out as to why Apple made this decision on Jan.7, and it would not surprise me to see that they have entered into some very significant alliances in support of their move. I don't believe that this is just Apple alone. This is going to be a major team effort to provide the market with an alternative to Windows/ MSFT. I do indeed think Apple is going into the OS business big time. The NEXT alternative being multi platform certainly hints at that.. Come Jan. 8, Bill Gates will be busy once again rewriting the 3rd edition of " The Road Ahead " and restructuring MSFT to meet yet another, what Andy Grove calls "Strategic Inflection Point". I plan to stay closely tuned in as this story unfolds. Apple just could be one of the best turnaround stories of this industry. :-) |
