PTask : I've completely lost track of SAf platinums since Anglo dumped JCI and Rusplats became Amplats and gobbled everything up.

Anyway, there hasn't been any action in the shares (Rusplat/Amplat) which have traded in virtually the same rather narrow range for the past 9 -10 years. The volatility in the platinum price was certainly not reflected in the share price.

I think the reason Amplats is not quoted on NASDAQ now is that Anglo likes to hold all the shares near its bosom. Perhaps for sentimental reasons. Maybe strategic. I know Lydenberg was taken off the list. I don't know of any other ADRs. Anyway, you are not missing anything.

I don't follow the other SAf platinums but I know there hasn't been much to shout about there, either. Northam isn't much of a mine. Impala has a law case with the Bofokeng tribe who allege Gencor (now Billiton) stole the property. I don't think there is a common thread leading to Goldfields.

Yes, I have heard that relations between Anglo and Goldfields are not as good as they could be. In fact, people were surprised that they were able to settle the DRFNY split-up amicably. I don't know why they are not friends.
