Leo, This is not the big news today. Ross just beat out HP to get a contract with NuTec. Ross installed a large paralell processing computer for the company, which does 3-D seismic work. This could be the first of several systems with NuTec. The impressive thing is that the Ross system had 30% better performance that the HP system and cost 40% less. The shared memory configuration that Ross is using may give them pricing advantages with these larger systems. Also of note, The eary numbers I saw for the Sun Ultra 3 processor were spec92 int 1000 and spec92 fp 1500. Roger Ross said that the viper chip would surpass the Ultra 3 in performance.
