Who, me: I would agree that no term -- liberal, conservative, right-wing Christian, & etc. -- should be used as a cuss word. To be more specific: I do not approve of ad hominem arguments, that imply that because X is a "liberal," or a "conservative," or whatever, he/she is ipso facto wrong.

At the same time, I think it is fair to criticize VIEWS one disagrees with, although I would prefer that terms like "conservative" or "liberal" not be used to describe them, because they are so misleading.

Part of the problem, I suspect, is that self-styled "conservatives" tend to CALL their views "conservative," and take pride in the label. So their opponents respond accordingly.
