Mark, sounds like IDTI has a real problem (which is also reflected in their stock price, which was around $4 the last time I looked.)
A few days ago IBM reported a new Aptiva PC (their desktop line) for $900 or so, and the MHz was around 330.
Now this article says IDTI doesn't expect to offer a 300 MHz chip until the first quarter of next year? Who does IDTI expect to buy the chip? You're not talking about sub $1000 market. You're possibly talking sub $500 market, but by next year, the sub $500 market might be requiring faster chips as well.

Separately, I don't follow biometrics, but I have seen several articles over the years that said ATMs were going to include a scanner for the person's eye (for an ID system). My impression was that the technology was going to be available/incorporated fairly soon.
I've heard almost nothing about using fingerprint ID for ATM machines, altho it could certainly be done.
But for these companies to make any real money from the ID system is another problem. Identix, and some other fingerprint companies have been around for years, their stocks go up and down, but it's based on future hopes. My impression is that the companies themselves have no earnings, even tho they are selling their systems to law enforcement agencies, etc.
