<<Ken Starr is certain to go down in history as every bit as bad a disaster as Joe McCarthy was>>

Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but there is some of the same flavor. Get your quarry at any cost. Respect no bounds of privacy or decorum. Assume and darkly predict that a lapse of any sort is proof of a deep and metastasizing rot, that if not rooted out in the glare of vengeful publicity, will surely corrupt the moral and legal fabric of the country. And the like.

<<Let's face it... who hasn't had sex with someone at work?>>

Well, ahem, lets say who hasn't ever thought about it?

To me the real point along those lines is the sex sinning, and sex lying, is predictive of very little else. Except perhaps adherence, or rejection, of the credos of the religious right. Which perhaps has something to do with their vehemence on the subject. (Though we all know there is a lot of hypocrisy on that front.)
