I trade different ways in different accounts:
day scalps
short term position/swing trades of a few days to a couple of weeks
intermediate term holds; 3 months to a year
some "forever" stuff, 1 to 5 years or so

in terms of annualized % return my best results seem to come from short term sector trades
to whit:
find a badly out of favor sector with good or improving fundamentals
watch for a possible signal of an upward reversal in the sector
watch the sector leader
jump on the #2,3,4 companies as soon as the leader turns up
my timing is usually a bit off; jumping in a tad too early and getting out a bit too soon
I don't try to buy at the bottom or sell at the top, rather try to catch a quick move in the mid range

do you do any sector work in you daily scans?
any thoughts?
