dougjn - well stated. To what extent does dishonesty play a part in the rummaging through a defendant's background? Would you not seek out instances where it can be shown that the defendant lied about his or her sexual history? Isn't it reasonable for a juror to be skeptical of testimony given by a person who has had multiple affairs outside his or her marriage and has not told the truth about them? Not trying to badger, I respect your legal acumen. By the way, in the cases you site, politics has certainly made women's organizations real motives appear rather, shall we say, odd? Mr. K.
