Trey, I don't really think they are near bankruptcy, but for this desperation move, they may be closer than I calculated. The Mormon stuff comes from comments by Simplot and from Intel execs. Both talk about meetings with The Elders and how they support businesses that are run by and/or employ Mormons. A few years back, Simplot hinted that The Elders would never allow MU to fail. And back when the Intel committment to goofus Burst Edo came to light, connections between church members of both cos was stated as a possible reason for allowing this failed initiative to live as long as it did. If Intel is doing something this stupid, then it is not for an economic reason. We may find the answer in religious affiliation. MB
