JBINWC,

I think United States Filter Corp. is still a good investment for the long run. This company has a lot of cash to play with and the thing that hurt them this year was the culligan debt. Although I have seen companies grow too fast and not realize their financial position(BOST), USF claims to have clear financial record books. I also follow Equity Residential Property (EQR)(Sam Zell/owner)Whose stock was also down this year. This company is buying properties every day and recently decided instead of buying another property, they will buy back some shares and try to increase shareholder value. Personally I would love to see USF at $10.00 again to load up on more shares, It's very rare to see a industry leader fall this low without gaining value back again. Especially the water Purification industry where now days everyone is interested in clean water.
Semiconductors also play a roll in purified water to make there chips. They need very pure water to keep the chips cool while assembling so they don't warp. This could also be what is hurting USF this year. In the long run I think It's a worth while Investment although the income may show lower than expected for this year.

Good Luck with all your Investments,
JMHO
Tim
