Just a reminder that actual revenues won't show up from this deal until they're reported in 3Q 97, so somewhere around mid October 97 before we see any real benefit.
I also did the math wrong on my post earlier in the day, calculating $20 per disk x 150M disks= 3BILLION DOLLARS, not 300M. but I agree that this must mean the benefit for the disk drive SELLERS, not AXC itself.
Am incredulous the price barely budged today. I doubled up, but am now margined out. Can buy no more unless the price rises significantly! Yo gotta love 98 tho- digital tv and km all in one calendar year! Am curious where we or how we could figure out Maxtor's market share and # of drives sold. I see news release said 1.2B in sales, but that doesn't tell how much % of that is disk drives.
So, all in all, am excited by the news, glad to get in again at a cheap price, but absolutely flummoxed as to how it could drop from 11 to 10 on news like this? guess it'll take more contracts to make true believers outta more big money, either that or the new year-- wouldn't want to be a portfolio manager and mess up your portfolio by buying a new issue just days before the end of the year portfolio snapshot is taken now, would ya! |
