Interesting. This is the first I've heard of someone betting on the PC market over the telecoms market, or even being bullish on non-telecoms chip makers for that matter. However, they do bring a good point up about long-term growth. Margins are down significantly in PC-related chips, and most indications are that the glut of product has not yet shaken out of the channel (at least, that's what many of the disk drive makers are saying). Telecoms still looks the better bet to me.

On another subject, which of the chip makers, if any, has the potential to promulgate a proprietary architecture? I'm looking to see if there are any long-term gorillas in this group (who can get to that position by imposing an architecture), or is it mostly an execution game? As you can tell, I'm not technical.

Thanks for any ideas.
