...and further (now at the uptown library) I took a quick look at the NY Times (today's edition). The front page, left column, had an update on the Long Term Capital story. Apparently the amount of monies involved is growing. From what I read in the first two paragraphs, Da Boyz started with about $4.0 Billion of investors monies, borrow about 100 -125 Billion to buy securities, using the $4 B as backup money, and THEN, this seems to be the new overnight development, used the $100 Billion to leverage into the derivatives markets for $1.00 plus TRILLION. I stopped reading at that point. It's just too much for my tiny mind to grasp and one has seen so many stories like this over the years (the amounts differ) that one nows how its all going to end. I'm sure the further details on all over the webbee chat groups now. And, of course, we KNOW that there are NO MORE hedge funds problems out there...I mean, isn't the best thing to do is to go into a corner, slap one's thigh and have a hartee laugh.. (end of sermon
