The only thing I can come with for Intc to put some money into MU
would be to squash MU 's efforts with:
1) SLDRAM chip set development
2) SLDRAM prototypes already built for the SLDRAM group.
3) promote Rambus thru a memory supplier directly coupled with the RAMBUS investment directly.
It could be a much smaller investment than we think, so the amount of money they would kick in would be small and Intc would get some benefit above. I dont think they need guaranteed supply, the Koreans
are in full swing to crank those puppies out next year. The real question is how many are really needed in 99 vs how many the suppliers plan to build, Based on data I have seen, I think there will be plenty of chips available for the market, maybe Intc thinks not. who knows.
