My favorite demon confronted with..

An off-the-shelf device which, placed near a highly annoying sound source, restores quiet in my environment. AC powered 8"x8" flat panel producing real-time anti-noise.
If priced under $100.= at K-mart, would you buy this device to make the buzzing computer, or fridge, or other buzz go away? So what if I buy one for each source? Maybe one per room, if the complexity of addressing "ambient" noise has been solved.
I hope NCTI will be able to improve on the frequency range of their speakers(of course they will), thereby securing market leadership(that's good).
The technology seems untouchable and patented, although Sony and Philips, for example, must be scrambling to come up with an alternative and proprietary design. These companies IMHO have a history of innovation and "standard setting", which eventually will result in one of the two taking over NCTI. Judging by the list of the 57 licensees, some of them formidable players, one can only grin whilst contemplating 50 billion speakers(was that per annum, or what?..).
Dixie, please post the text of that Merrill Lynch study, so I can laugh out loud.

Here's looking forward to all of them making it to my Christmas shopping list, in any shape or form.
