Your jumping to conclusions because of some sloppy reporting.

The company reported that their problems were caused by the introduction of a new Enterprise Resource Planning Software System, ERP, that just happens to be Year 2000 compliant. They did not announce that the results were below expectations because of the "Millenium Bug"

I would not blame this on the date change problem. Talk to any company that has installed a new ERP system recently and find one where there was not some problems.
