Jim, <how long has it been since you [Elmer] were layed off from AMD?>
According to his several posts, he must be a former
second-hand engineer at AMD 29k-project. Apparently
during the tough days of K5 project, the 29k-project
was terminated due to inability to compete with other
embedded RISC offerings.
In big companies, all talented engineers from the
trminated projects are usually re-employed
for other projects within the same company - it is
too costly to lose these valuable investments.
However, the deadwood and other
non-reemployable morons just do not get an internal
offer and "voluteered" to "resign" (without any
material compensation though). Therefore,
within the formal definition of a "layoff", he
is probably telling the truth (formally) :-)
However, no one must be fooled by this formality,
a loser remains the loser, just more hostile.
We should trust nothing he has said on this forum.
