A Question to those pro and con Clinton staying in office...

The Rep Congress just passed a tax cut bill which will likely get vetoed by Clinton. How many are for Clinton leaving office but against this bill and vice versa?

It seems to me that there is some wisdom, due to current market jitters to keep the pressure on balancing budgets, paring down government debt and overhead while we can. If there is a big world economic downturn just around the corner, then we may need to have increased public works projects like infra structure, to keep things going.

Perhaps the biggest trigger for the 1929 crash and 10 year recovery was a hike in interest rates and the lag on pubic spending programs to sustain business momentum. We are now urging the Japanese to stimulate programs and inject public funds into clearing their banking system.

Is it the right time for the United States to be proposing a tax cut vs. helping secure social security (we've all seen how secure a 401K can be!).. or is this all just politics as usual?
