There is every reason to be embarrassed. We are now pondering over such "weighty" questions as to whether the President touched the breasts of Monica Lewinsky directly, or if there was a layer of clothing between his skin and hers. And we don't want to be a laughing stock?! That's a tall order.

IMO, what the world finds funny is that if this society were really puritanical, with hardly a few percent of the people indulging in extra-marital affairs, then the present exercise of examining everything under the microscope is at least understandable, even if silly. But in a country where a good majority behaves otherwise, the whole exercise looks simply ridiculous.
