Questions about OMPT.
I read your analysis on your thread. I have been long OMPT in the past, but currently have no position, although I am looking at it on the long side again.
Questions about your post. 1. What did you mean about incompatible GSM technology? 2. I can understand if we have a severe recession that they can't raise money, but it seems they are high profile and have good banking backers. Do you think ability to raise money is impossible or just at risk if the current market conditions continue? 3. I am not familiar with their marketing plan, could you provide details on the problems you see. 4. I don't think they have as much of a disadvantage versus the big players as you think. The incumbent cellulars must provide a price umbrella as they transition their systems to digital. Sprint could be a problem, but I don't see them just pouring money into it. Ultimately, this is really just a commodity business, so brand differentiation will not make much difference in the long run. 5. Agreed, coverage is spotty as they build out. True GSM coverage will be spotty for a very long time. Dual mode phones will help overcome this problem. But any digital service has the same coverage problem.
