That may well be. I know that Washington won almost no battles other than the last one, Yorktown, and that came with the aid of thousands of French troops and Admiral de Grasse's fleet. At Saratoga there is a memorial to Arnold, which fails to have his name on it because of his treason. He is supposed to have rallied the American troops there, even though he wasn't in charge, and led them to defeat the British in the fierce battle of Second Saratoga where he was wounded.
