Have they turned CMstat around, finally?

CMstat Corp. announces the delivery of an Enterprise Component Management System (ECMS) to GTE Supply

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 1998--

ECMS Delivery Represents the First Application of Java Applets

Developed For CMstat's Database-of-Authority(TM)

CMstat Corp., a leading developer and provider of comprehensive Configuration Management (CM) systems, today announced the delivery of an Enterprise Component Management System (ECMS) to GTE Supply for managing the distribution of parts and products to telecommunication customers.

The delivery of this system represents the first in a series of Java Applets being developed to provide task-focused access to CMstat's Database-of-Authority(TM).

"This new product is the first of many we'll offer to allow customers to bring unprecedented control to complex, change prone business processes and products by leveraging our core V5 Configuration Management application," said Jack Daley, president of CMstat Corp. "This new application illustrates how centrally-managed critical data can be leveraged to large user groups throughout an extended enterprise. By utilizing Web-based technologies users benefits include easy access, simple usage and accurate maintenance."

CMstat was selected for delivering the ECMS due to its proven ability to build solutions that apply good configuration management practices to resolve complex business problems that provide solid change management control within a large dynamic enterprise.

CMstat's ECMS was designed to manage accurate Component Information on 150,000 products and parts GTE Supply distributes globally. Over 2000 field service representatives located around the world access this data pertaining to current component attributes, deployment tracking, performance monitoring, and change requests.

ECMS enhanced the component management data model within CMstat's Database-of-Authority(TM) by including the specific needs of GTE Supply and the telecommunications industry. This data model included detailed supplier and manufacturer information, cost figures, and project status. Functionality was added to provide the ability to request new components and track changes to existing components via the new Product Change Request (PCR) module. A Java Applet was then built to provide specific access to the component information.

Access and management of the component information is controlled via the security module where the organization is modeled for specific groups, tasks performed within each group and the users performing the specific tasks.

Data manipulation may be controlled all the way down to the field level.

GTE Supply's workflow management requirements were intensive and only a robust workflow management engine could meet its needs. Rather than build this engine from the ground up, CMstat turned to its strategic business partner Concentus Technology for its expertise in workflow management.

Concentus Technology provided MetaPlanner(TM). Through the integration of MetaPlanner(TM) and CMstat ECMS, CMstat was able to provide the ease of use and robust functionality to complete the GTE Supply solution.
