If 3M can receive hundreds of millions for its patent on "Post-It Notes", why shouldn't 3dfx do the same with "multi-texturing."?

3dfx was the first to develop the technology, first to market it, and first to patent it. And now Nvidia is the first market a product with the same feature, and 3dfx has no choice but to defend their intellectual property rights.

If the patent holds, it could mean BIG BUCKS for 3dfx down the road as all the graphics card manufacturers will pony up the dough.
